Laptop powers on but no display.

My MacBook Pro is not working. I can hear the fan and hard drive running inside but it won't display anything. It was crashing but it would work if I reset the NVRAM and/or SMC eventually. Now nothing will fix it. Also not sure if this is related but the WiFi is out also. That went about 4 months ago. It would work fine plugged in, but it wasn't showing any hardware installed. I need this for school, please help!

What happens when you use an external monitor and can you even see an image (desktop and the icons on it) when you shine a flashlight though the logo on the lid (a poor mans backlight).

Let us know what you find.

And that is also true with the external display, correct.

If so, that's not good as that implies the logic board has an issue.
