How can I use non-Verizon phone on my Verizon contract?

I recently damaged my Samsung S4 phone to the point of no repair. I have been wanting to get out of Samsung for awhile now, and I have been really intrigued by the specs and reviews of the Nokia phones. The only problem is that I am on a Verizon contract, and Nokia phones are not sold by Verizon contractors as of this point, I am pretty sure. Is there a way to get around this problem without switching over to ATnT or some other provider?

If you can find a model that is advertised as unlocked you can use it with a different carrier. I own a Nokia Lumia 928 which is made for Verizon. The phone is unlocked and I have T mobile as a carrier. Since the phone is unlocked you just need the sim card for the carrier you want. Then activate the phone with your desired carrier. So just make sure the phone is unlocked and it can be used with a different carrier.
