There are a few reasons as to why you may not be able to hear their voice. Check both of the headset connections by ensuring that the cord is completely plugged in. One side connects to the bottom of the headset itself, and the other connects to the left side of the base. Make sure both ends of the cord are fully pushed in, and a "click" noise is heard. If this still does not work, ensure the volume is loud enough. This can be done by pressing the circular button where it says "Volume +". For further information, check the troubleshooting page

That did nothing

The speaker is probably intermittently connecting. Lightly tap the handset trying to jostle the wires inside to connect. Listen after each strike. If you get it working again, be gentle picking it up and hanging it up. Get a handset you know works and connect it. I have gone through a few of these.
