Replacing the camera with a higher MP camera?

Hello,

I know it is possible to replace and fix Iphone cameras. For example, you can replace a faulty 4S camera with another fully functional 4S camera.

Would this work if I wanted to replace it with a camera from a different device device? Could I replace my 4S front camera (0.2 MP) with an Iphone 5 front camera (1.2 MP)? Would that work?
