Go for the SAMSUNG PRO 850 256GB. It's reliable, compatible and super fast.

I am looking for SATA drive. The computer is for work and nothing to fancy. I want to make sure that is compatible with an iMac EM 2428.

Great drive, but... won't work in this system without the OWC in-line thermal sensor and you'll need a adapter frame to mount the 2.5 SSD into the 3.5 HD location. If you use the dual drive kit you can mount it as a second drive.

I had three of the Samsung Pro 840s fail in my mid-2011 27" iMac, within about 18 months. The last two had third-party TRIM support. I even replaced the cable once with an iFixit one, still failed. They would get I/O errors at an increasing rate until the directory became too damaged to repair. For the last replacement, Samsung sent an 850 version, and it has performed flawlessly–knock on wood! Go for the PRO.

You may want to give your drive a good cleaning and defraging as often I find slow drives just need some TLC.

If you want to gain some space with a larger drive I would go with a SSHD hybrid drive like Seagate SSHD.

One of the issues you will face here is the internal thermal sensor Apple systems require in this series. The Seagate SSHD drive with the Apple logo on it will work without any problems. If you use an older drive or one that does not support the newer SMART standard you will need this: OWC In-line Digital Thermal Sensor for iMac 2011 Hard Drive Upgrade. Follow this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2428 Hard Drive Replacement

If you want to setup a dual drive (a HD and a separate SSD) which can give you the most bang here, follow this IFIXIT guide: Installing iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2428 Dual Hard Drive Kit then you can create a Fusion drive with both drives.
