Battery won't charge, already tried new battery

The computer has spill damage. Everything seems to work other than the fact that the battery will not charge. I installed a new battery. That battery had a 44% charge out of the box but dropped to 1% where it stays regardless of how long I keep it plugged in. Like I said it works fine while plugged in and it worked fine off the new battery while it had its original 44% charge. Any ideas? Main board, I/O board?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Do you get a power light on your mag safe connector? (if yes then I don’t know)

What status messages show in the battery menu bar item? (does it say battery not present, or battery needs service)

Apparently the IO board and IO cable can be easily damaged by water. The IO board controls whether to charge the battery or not, and the cable connects it to the logic board. The IO board also tells the power supply what coloured light to show. Also connects the USB port (the one next to the mag safe) and the 3.5mm audio. Do all these work?
