Screen dimmed, can't see anything apart from the apple logo on boot.

Hey everyone!

Bad day yesterday. I was using my mac and all of a sudden, the screen dimmed and I can't see anything on it. Tried force shutting down and rebooting, I can see the apple logo while booting. Apart from that, nothing else.

I spilled coffee on my mac like 3 months back near the power button side. Kept it in rice stack for a few days. Worked all good.

After three months yesterday, the screen dimmed and I can't seem to fix it with SMC reset, PRAM reset or anything. Tried force boot in sleep mode swell. No luck.

What do you guys think the problem can be? The macbook was working all good and it is just 7 months old.

Any help is appreciated.

Doesn't sound good here.

I'm not a lover of the rice trick as it often doesn't really help when you spill anything other than straight water. Coffee, soda and ice-cream all have sugars and acids which over time eat away at the electrical components and circuits. Besides the solids causing shorts.

At this point you have to open the system up and do some deep cleaning.

I also suspect the upper case is likely to far gone and besides they are a bear to take apart to even get to the contacts to try to clean them if they can be saved. I would recommend just bitting the bullet here and just replace the uppercase. Here's the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow: MacBook Air 13" Mid 2013 Upper Case Replacement.
