dropped laptop auto repair doesn't seem to do anything

I dropped my i7 laptop at the airport in the security check and it appeared to work when I turned it on, however when I got to work and turned it on it worked very slowly.

I restarted it hoping it would reset itself however it went into repair mode and after an few hours it said it couldn't do anything for me and now it won't open into Win 8.1 at all.

Any ideas most welcome

I have resolved this now having got an external sata drive docking station and found parts of the hard drive corrupted/ not formatable but using partitions have separated that part off and now installed Win 10 - all working fine.

Fortunately I had partitioned my drive into a win section and a data section and the data was all fine

Cheers for all the help

If it starts up in repair mode again, try system restore..It should be in the same menu as repair.

If that doesn't work...

You can obtain a download copy of Windows 8.1 from Microsoft, All you need is the COA "product key on sticker" off the laptop. Try using that new copy as a repair disk or restoring the Laptop with that copy and see what happens.

If it will not repair or install from the new 8.1 disk, I would say that the hard drive has failed.

Hope the restore works.....

Thanks for that reply LS, I do have an 8.1 disk actually but it may be ISO but regardless I've taken out the HDD now and am trying to extract some of the data off it - I can see the Data Partition I made on it but not the C:\ partition...

Cheers
