To fix the turbo odometer first remove the hush panel under the drivers side dash. Reach under the dash and gently pull the odometer cable an inch through firewall. Remove the oil supply to the gauge with a 10mm wrench .Disconnect speedo cable and remove clock connection, seat belt and glow-plug connection, speedo electrical connection and tach connection. Disconnect the mash harness for the gauge cluster. Remove the clock cluster ,then remove gauge cluster and the dimmer switch. Remove the speedo electrical box.

Then lift out the speedo and see closely the trip meter reset arm.

The 2 plastic gears are common place for failure of the Odo. Inspect them carefully. For further information on how to repair the odometer go to mercedes repair novato

Ron, you did not tell us the year of your vehicle. If your speedometer still works, just your odometer does not, then it is most likely that you have a stripped a gear or gear mounting. Common failure of the VDO instruments. Now it depends on how comfortable you are repairing it. Check the instructions on here. Otherwise you will have to either send it out to get repaired or replace the complete unit.
