How can I stop my iPod touch from restarting?

Last night i was syncing for my iPod touch, and it started to restart it self over and over again. I tried to charge it and everything, but it's still doing the same thing. i tried to connect it to the itune but something popped up that said " the operation could not be completed an unexpected error occurred (error code-1712)" help me PLEASE!

it really didn't help. i just want the error thing to stop and stop my iPod touch from restarting itself over and over again

It involves first trying to move your com.apple.iTunes.plist file to your desktop, and if that doesn't work, re-installing iTunes.

Other solutions I found in other forums involved simply waiting the problem out or restarting the computer.

hold the power and home button for like 10 seconds ,its gunna reboot,u should see the apple logo,if the apple logo comes out then everything is ok :)
