Lacie External HDD, USB contact detached in socket, how to fix it?

Model: LaCie Rugged USB 3.0/Thunderbolt external HD

I have this hard disk model of above posted link, but the usb 3.0 pin has broken last year :) i bothered to repair it now.

Please help me with the fix and also with spare part ( i tried on ebay and many site in vain)

Have you tried talking to LaCie?

Depending on when you bought your drive it maybe covered under warranty. Even if not they may offer a repair service for this drive (given its marketing as a rugged drive).

Yes, i spoke to lacie customer care regarding this , they asked me the bill which i lost years ago ... so i cant claim the warranty now ... and i guess my hard disk like two and half years old .... so i guess its out of warranty and moreover i feel this is small fix as i'm good at soldering .

Check your bank statement or credit card info. I'm sure they will accept it. Also check your local and major government laws you may have a means to still get implied warranty service. If none of these options work then I think you'll need to crack it open to gain access to the connector. Use care as some of the methods used to secure the case are captured tabs which you don't want to break. Once you get it open take a good set of images and post them here so we can ID the part. - Good Luck!

Thanks Dan :) but unfortunately going through company procedure seems tough in my situation as i paid it by cash and more over i've purchased it in india and now i'm US .

But however i've gained access to the chipset board and not able to get the appropriate USB 3.0 pin which suits this HDD ( its bit different with longer connecting pins).

So if could help me with this spare i would be thankful.

Can you take a full detailed snapshots of the connector. If possible place a ruler (mm not inch) across it so we can get an idea of its size both the connector and the solder pads if they go though the PCB. If you can measure it that will help. Sadly I don't have parts you need, but together we might be able to locate that you need on the web.

The above are the pics.However the pin is standard USB 3 pins for this HDD but the connecting pins were bit longer for the default part.so any thing i get from older parts is not fitting this.
