Why is my laptop not charging

My son had the flu and threw up on my macbook air (not bad), but a bit of vomit got onto the magsafe charger. I know, horribly disgusting. I had to clean it with disnfectant to make sure I killed the germs, and everything happened while the laptop was in sleep mode and not plugged in. After cleaning and drying for a day, when I plug in the magsafe port, i get a very faint green light, but no charging. Any idea what I need to do? I have not tried to turn on the laptop yet and it has been 4 days.

I fear you have to do more cleaning ;-{

Your son's vomit is vey acidic (stomach acid). You need to neutralize it as anything left will corrode things.

Are you up to taking your system apart? If so review this example on what you'll need to do: MacBook Air 11" Mid 2011 Logic Board Replacement. To find your exact system refer to this page and then select your model: MacBook Air 11" models.

If your not up to it or need some time:

You should put your system in a plastic bag and squeeze out the air and place it into your refrigerator to keep it cool (don't freeze it!) until you can get to fixing things or getting your system to someone who can.

You may have to replace the MagSafe port.
