Dead Power Supply? Strange LED 1 response

I have a iMac EMC 2389 with what seems to be a dead power supply (does not do anything once the power button is pressed). I do not see any visual defects on the power supply, so I am trying to determine if it is really the power supply or if it could be a logic board issue. I don't have a spare power supply, so I looked first to the diagnostic LED's. Although I have seen plenty of thread describing the LED's, (like this iMac - no power, number 1 diagnostic LED on) I seem to have encountered some odd behavior.

Upon plugging in the AC adapter, LED 1 lights up. Once pressing the power button, no other LED's turn on, and LED 1 turns off. LED 1 only turns back on if I disconnect the power cord and start again. Does anybody know what could be causing this or which pins I could look at to determine whether it is the power supply of logic board causing the problems.

Any advice would be appreciated, as it would be nice to determine the power supply is the culprit prior to spending the money on a new one.

Thanks!

LED #1 will remain on if it has a trickle charge which it can get from capacitors. REPLACE THE POWER SUPPLY.

Thanks for the advice! A power supply is in the mail and I will post back once I get it working.

So, I was right to worry. A new power supply did not fix it! It looks to me like it is a problem with the logic board, but now I'm not sure if it is worth the price. Unless someone else has an alternative suggestion. Has anyone observed the same LED behavior.
