Plugged to charge - Doesn't turn on anymore - Access to memory?

Hi,

I plugged my phone in a friend's charger and it went off immediately, not turning on ever again. My greatest concern is my media in it so I was looking for a way to access its memory somehow without turning it on or having to change pieces of it which would imply in losing my pictures.

Is there a way to do so?

I am located in Brazil, sent my phone to a local authorized LG technical assistance store and they say they have to change a piece of hardware and "update the software", which would in the end erase all my pictures. It looks like the charger burned down something in the power circuit.
