Why did my stereo sound stop? Is it my Onkyo TX-V940?

I have an Onkyo stereo receiver TX-V940

Sound went on & off, then stayed off. Radio in receiver & connected CD player are lit & CD player continues silently. I tried 4 different speakers & checked all wires. Does this mean my receiver is shot? Recently also (before this) the radio sound went off for just a minute, then came back on a couple times and that was the end of it.

(I saw a previous post about trying headphones, but mine don't fit the jack.)

thank you.

I had an Onkyo that had this same issue. Video would pass through, but no sound. It ended up being a bad sound board (not sure the exact term), but from what I've read it's very common.
