installed new screen and image only appears on external display via

i recently purchased a new screen for my macbook pro A1278 and when i finished installing it the display still does not work but when connected externally it works perfectly fine.

Note: the screen is brand new....

Options

Can you see a faint image on the screen when shining a flashlight thru the Apple logo? If so you have a inverter and/or inverter cable issue.
