How to replace the hard drive?

I need to replace my hard drive on my iMac 20-inch (Mid 2007) Model Number: A1224.

I was looking at nothing big cause its my secondary mac which is mainly used for interest browsing. So I was going with a 500GB,

Okay Three questions. Whats the difference with these two hard drives (below). Would either work properly with my model? And is it really worth double for the hybrid model for my needs?

The only difference you have here is a standard HD vs a SSHD (hybrid drive). Both are 3.5" and you list one as SATA and the second one SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) [aka: Serial ATA-600].

What you didn't tell us was the make and model of the drives to be able to tell you more.

In your case your system is only able to support a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) drive.

So your SATA III drive won't work unless it offers a jumper to alter its SATA I/O speed to SATA II or SATA I (1.5 Gb/s).

I do recommend hybrid drives when ever possible over standard HD's as the deeper cache they offer adds a lot of zip booting up and running apps. You may want to checkout a Seagate desktop SSHD drives as they offer auto SATA port detection so it will work in your system without any problems.

okay thanks for the suggestion. so if i were to purchase the

Seagate 1TB Desktop SSHD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST1000DX001). it would run good with my imac.
