The Microsoft Band is a wrist tool and accessory with a rectangular LCD screen on one side of the device and a heart rate monitor on the other. It can be paired with a wide variety of smart phones. The model number is 1619 and is written in fine print next to the two hooks that clamp the band shut, or written on the bottom of the original packaging.

How frequently should I charge the Microsoft Band?

I want to charge my Microsoft Band, but I just can't figure out the right timing. I want to charge it over night, but I also want to track my sleep cycles. How quickly does the band charge, and how frequently should I do it?

The Band's battery normally lasts about two days, so it’s recommended that you charge the Microsoft Band during periods when it is turned off, or when it is not in use. Charging the Band in the car on the way to work, or at home while cooking or taking a shower could work. The batteries should reach nearly 80% charge within 30 minutes of charging, and a full charge in approximately 90 minutes.

If your Band isn't lasting that long, try the tips on the Troubleshooting Page.

My New MS Band 2 charges very quickly while I am cleaning myself up in the mourning. What works for me: turn on my Surface 2, sync my watch using Microsoft Band Sync (hard to find program for windows computers), Sync with dashboard, then after clean up put on Band and start day! This lessens possibility of water or impact damage. I also wear it face on underside of wrist for same reasons. Amazon has screen protector for band, it is on order. I purchased the band rather than other fitness products because of screen resolution and its narrow width is comfortable when moving wrist and because I did not need to use smart phone with it.

Note: You can sync with a mobile phone using your email address to get tiles set up - then delete the app from your friends phone. The computer program is not the best and its manage tiles option only allows ordering of tiles not import and removal. When I changed one of the setup options, 'band name', the program stopped Syncing with the band but the charging function continued. Microsoft help was unable to solve the problem but an expert is supposed to give me a call back. I eventually solved the sync problem by restoring the band to its factory setting and re-installing the program using a different hotmail account.
