Are the i3 and i5 displays swapable?

So I have an opportunity to get an i3 iMac on the cheap, but there's a catch. There's no LCD, glass, or working graphics card. Are the components on my POS i5 iMac compatible? The model # of the i3 iMac is MC508LL/A. i5 is MC309LL/A

Thanks,

-Phil

Systems within the SAME series share many parts. You could swap out the display between them. Often DIFFERENT series parts are NOT interchangeable.

Just to be clear here review this listing: iMac11,2 family.

The i3 models are less powerful than a i5 models (CPU). So moving the display over to it doesn't make much sense here (unless your i5 is dead).

The system identifiers you offered list out are from two different series.

  • MC508LL/A - iMac "Core i3" 3.06 21.5-Inch (Mid-2010) LCD Panel, 21.5” 661-5536
  • MC309LL/A - iMac "Core i5" 2.5 21.5-Inch (Mid-2011) LCD Panel, 21.5” 661-5934

Very different part!
