Is it too late to save my iPod from water damage?

my ipod touch 5 gen got wet in the rain for a good 12 min or so without me realizing it.I had my ipod in my bookbag and I thought it was safe. Unfortunately, when I got home I realized it was submerged in a pool of water soaking wet as well as some papers. I took it out and put it in rice. I had no idea what I was doing and I was panicking. So like an idiot I let it sit in rice for only a few hours and kept trying to turn it on. It became hot then later it was cool. After a few days of still allowing it to sit in rice, I took it out tried to charge it but it didn't work so after awhile I gave up and it sat on my dresser for a good 3-4 months. I went way to long without it and I am desperate to have it back so is it possible to revive it? I tried the whole nail polish remover in the earphone jack but it hasn't worked yet. Suggestions?

Answer this question I have this problem too

jj, "I tried the whole nail polish remover in the earphone jack but it hasn't worked yet" and "sit in rice for only a few hours " are definitely nothing but a myth. Rice and nail polish remover is the equivalent of doing absolutely nothing. Now, the very first thing you want to stop doing, is to try to turn your device on or to try to charge/sync it. You are already a couple of month into the corrosion process. Trying to turn it on etc. may be causing further damage. Use this guide and clean all of your parts with a high grade (90%+) isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Do not forget the cable connectors. While you clean it (in your case you may have to do multiple cleanings) check for any missing. burned, or corroded components. After you cleaned it properly, replace the battery. This is not optional but an absolute must. Then reassemble your iPod and evaluate for true damage.

Water damage is the hardest to diagnose and to repair since virtually any part may have failed. So even with all the proper steps, there is still a large chance that it will not come back to life. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Give it a try...

Rice might not have been a good idea. When you put your device in rice it will water damage your whole phone even if only one part is damaged. the best thing to do is soak the parts in 99% alcohol. This may do the trick if not u can mail in your device to a mail in phone repair company that I have used in the past and saved my iPhone!
