Can I use any optical drive to replace my broken optical drive?

Hello,

I am having problems with my imac optical drive and i wish to replace it.

Model no sony ad 5680h.

Do i need to buy the some model or can i use new any optical drive for replacement?

No you can't use just any optical drive.

You need one that is the correct size, correct mount points and I/O interface (SATA) for your system. And lastly the OS has the needed driver or one you can import the needed driver from the company that makes the drive.
