will a MBP2010 turn on without the battery indicator cable?

Hello guys

Ive got a macbook pro 2010 with a broken battery light cable. The one that shows you how much charge you have in your battery if you press the little silver button (it's part number: 821-0828-A).

I clumsily broke the flimsy little thing and now I can't get the machine to power in at all. I need to know if this is coincidental, or if this cable prevents the machine from powering on at all.

It does seem unlikely to me. But I've visual checked all my other connections and they seem fine. Unfortunately I don't have a multimeter here to check.

Thanks for reading, I hope you can confirm this one way or another so I can move on in my quest to solve this!

What color is the magsafe led/light? Are you using the 85w or 60w power adapter? All of the Apple chargers are marked with their wattage, look on the plug side side panel. Granted, it's hard to read as it's a very light grey print on the white case, but it's there. Why did you have the laptop apart to begin with?

Please answer the questions I asked earlier. You are our eyes and ears. You are the only one here that knows why you had it apart to be able to break the cable.

While you can disconnect it. I would just replace it with a good one. It's not an expensive part (aprox. $12 US) It's also not difficult to replace.

Sure, but will it power on without it?

Yes, it won't effect the powering of your system.
