Shuts down on connecting anything to dock-connector.

I have a iPod 5th Generation (Video), Model A1136.

Everything is working normal while using it. I can Play Music and so on.

It shuts down when i plug in the 30-pin connector (which has to be connected to anything, power, usb-Port, doesn't matter)

It can't start up until the cable is removed. It only shows "Please Wait, Very Low Battery". The "wait wheel" under it is spinning. If I disconnect the cable, the iPod starts and the battery is full and working again.

The charging works in this state, but the device gets really warm. The hottest part is left near the back button.

And sometimes, when nothing is connected to the ipod, i get the error message "The attached accessoire is nor supperted" (Sorry I don't know the exact english translation, i have a german device).

I tried changing the battery. And the iPod also crashes on connecting while in diagnostic mode. (M25 Diagnostics 0.7 completes without errors)

Can someone pinpoint the problem or maybe have any solutions?

Thanks

daniel, sounds like a bad dock connector. Check for any bend , broken or corroded pins in the connector. It is possible but difficult to change it since it is soldered onto the logic board.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't have any tools here right now. will check it later. Do you know a place where I can find a datashhet for what supposes to be on what pins, so i can check for voltages, shorts, dirt and so on.
