Had a bulging battery so i replaced it with a new one. Now my battery indicator on the side only works when first put on charge or removed from charge but not any other time even when i press the button. Ive tried all the resets already and status shows its fine and seems to hold a charge well and it shows the percentage in the status bar but the indicator on the side does not work.

Try disconnecting the battery checker ribbon cable to see if that changes things. If it does you'll need to replace the Battery Indicator Light Board - 922-9033.
