storage device - inappropriate storage device

my hard drive is not being detected. i removed and replaced with a working hd but when iput my hd back in it doesnt work. screen comesup to press the start and select buttons on the controller to find proper software

Possibilities are a bad hard drive, improperly seated drive or bad connectors. What have you checked?
