your right - if no. 7 isn't connected well, the reception could be bad - but it's a fragile part - be careful not to break the connector!

try to connect it properly (i know that sounds not "nice" - but i would do that for you if you bring it, but in my case - i'm from germany and that would be a to long distance for the most ifixit users ;-) )

ok the problem is the numer 7 doesnt seem to connect right, it wont snap on there at all. i think it might possibly be broken. is there anyway i can fix that or do i have to get new parts? thanks for all your help

by

that depends where it's broken - cable side or logic board side? - but if it's broken, it should look "odd"

by

I think both sides are messed up, it wont snap together but i tried holding them together hopeing that it would show some reception but it didnt do anything.

by

if one of the sides has lost it's contact - you won't have any signal. i did only find the antenna on ebay, changing the part on the logicboard would involve soldering (but in that case, some "guerilla's" simply using 2 small wires and soldering the dock antenna contacts to the opposite side on the antenna, the cables should be long enough to open the phone again and work "freely" with it - but thin enough to get hidden inside the phone
