Broken Screen Frame / Chassis, need replacement

Hello,

The frame/chassis in which the screen is housed just broke on my MacBook Pro 15" (2.2/2.4 GHz).

Please note that the screen itself was working when the frame broke.

The Serial Number is: W87382RHXAH

Could someone please advise me if:

1) I can purchase a replacement and the degree of difficulty involved?

2) if I can buy the entire Screen including the chassis to replace and if that is a lot easier?

Thank you VERY MUCH for your kind assistance,

Sam

First here's the IFIXIT guide for your system: MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 & A1260 Display Assembly Replacement.

Sadly, you'll need the full assembly as the mid frame is not sold as a separate part.

Display Clamshell:

  • Matte (661-4342)
  • Glossy (661-4343)

Here's the IFIXIT part: MacBook Pro 15" (Model A1226) Display Assembly.

Thank you VERY much, Which part is the "Mid Frame" you mentioned? Also is the $ 399 the best price for the assembly? WOuld it not be cheaper to buy through eBay? MANY Thanks again.

It's the mid frame part that is broken, the lid cover is available as a spare just not the frame the LCD and lid cover is mounted to, and where the hinges are. The lid is screwed on along the edge to the mid frame.
