Why is myps3 having problems turning on?

I have a 250gb ps3 that is not showing a red power indicator but beeps (once) when I press the power button. After about two minutes, the red light comes on, and I am able to start up the ps3. For some reason the hdmi is not working. I ha e tried multiple hdmi cords and multiple tvs, but none have worked.

For some reason the av.cord works, so I figured I'd try reset thing where you hold the button until the system shut down, and then hold until you hear to beeps. This freezes the ps3 on startup and it becomes unresponsive, and I am unable to shut it down.

I cannot think of anything that could have lead to this besides the fact that I left both my hdmi and power cords unplugged last night.

I have tried different power cords as well.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with my ps3?
