Screen is blank, but still plays...

So I have my Mini 2G that I use off and on. The screen, when plugged in or even fully charged, will not display anything on the screen. The back light still turns on.

The weird thing is that the screen will eventually show a something when the battery is pretty much dead.

It has been dropped couple times, but nothing too harsh.

Should I just do a screen replacement, or is there something else I can do prior to doing the replacement.

Options

there are 3 different options before you order a replacement screen.

  1. hard reset the iPod
  2. restore the iPod with itunes
  3. reseat the display connector

since the reset/restore is faster than disassembling, i would do those steps first
