Why can't I get a strong connection to my home WiFi network?

When I am at my home my computer says that I am connected to the internet, but the connection is extremely slow. I have tried resetting the router and moving about three feet away, but neither method has worked. My other devices have a strong connection. What should I do?

There is an older version of the Dell Inspiron 15-7537 that has had trouble with the Intel WiFi card. I would suggest upgrading the WiFi card to a Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7260.

I have used windows 10 free upgrade that was offered by Microsoft (replacing windows 8.1). since then every now and then my wireless connection is disconnected. I mean my internetis not functioning but the laprop shows it is connected. i am literally 2 ft away from the rooter. So I have to go manually disconnect the wireless and reconnect it. What could be wrong?
