safe to use acetone when repairing the lcd?

Hi

was wondering if any seasoned pros here know if it's safe to use Acetone on the lcd, as the one I done a couple of weeks ago.....The glue was evil, it never rolled off like the s3/s4.

so was wondering if Acetone would be safe, or a mixture of Acetone & Isopropyl would do the trick?

Same would apply for the iPhone 5 lcd.

Acetone, also called dimethylketone or propanone, chemical formula (CH₃)₂C=O, is a commonly used, relatively inexpensive solvent. A solvent is a medium not intended to react with a chemical, but to dissolve it so that the dissolved chemical -- the solute -- can be put to some practical use or disposed of.

There are all kinds of plastics. If a particular plastic bears a close enough similarity to acetone, the acetone will dissolve or at least affect its surface, softening, smearing or even dissolving the plastic. Other plastics, dissimilar to acetone, will remain unaffected by the solvent. One challenge in choice of solvent is when a substance needs dissolving off a plastic surface.

So my advice is to test it on an inside surface before possibly destroying it.

I can easily say, that acetone does eat into the wifes nice table cloth, and the after effects of her moaning gives me a headache.

But I kept a load of iphone 5 screens and tested it on those, which seems to be fine, still didn't disorders the glue as nicely as the stuff you buy from Hong Kong, and I doubt they will have a safety sheet, for me to look at the contents.

yeah I have used acetone, it can leave a streaky finish but it will polish out. acetone is better than isopropyl.

I took the plunge and went for it, used a bit of isopropyl to weaken it slightly, still needed a bit of pressure to remove the stubborn marks, but they came off, would like to know what's in those blue bottles from HK, as those are really good, but expensive too!
