Headphone Jack different size / won't fit

Trying to replace the lightning connector / headphone jack and I noted that the headphone jack is a different size then the one that I am replacing. The original is slightly thinner, with rounded edges and the screw holes are in a different place.

As such I won't fit into the housing of the phone. Any suggestions as to why this may be? did I get sent the wrong part?

I would say you have gotten a 5c or 5s charging port

Nope, ordered the correct part and double checked by model number. I have a side by side picture and you can see the small differences

On further inspection the packing said iPhone 5 but looking at the pictures on the site they sent the one for the 5C. Now i just need them to send me the correct part.

I would have to agree with Con, check to make sure that you did not get a different model, the model numbers are located on the flex. 821-1417A is the model.

----Don't forget to look at a tear down and make sure you are installing right.

Next if you do have the correct model number consider this; Not all parts are made alike, getting quality parts is a constant battle in the repair field as consumers are always trying to save on cost. So keep in mind this part is an aftermarket part and may be lower quality, causing issues like not fitting or misplacement. If I was you I would order another and send the other one back as long as it is not damaged. Some seller sell higher quality parts.

Good luck!
