Home button doesn't work, microphone doesn't record but charges..

Hello friends!

My iPhone 5s home button does not work, touch ID works but is delayed. Microphone does not work (people can't hear me when making phone calls.) I thought the dock connector was damaged so I replaced it. Turns out, it's not the dock connector! Brand new connector and everything still doesn't work...

Overall: Sitting here with a newly installed dock connector, nonfunctional home button, microphone doesn't work. Halp

When did this start happening? Is it following an incident such as drop, liquid damage, repair, software update? Can people hear you when you make voice calls? Can you use VOIP/Viber?

My home button/mic stopped working after a battery replacement. I replaced the entire dock connector and both still don't work :[ . I still don't think it's the logic board because unlike the regular iPhone 5, there aren't the Q3/U3 chips near the sim card slot. & No, people can't hear me, but i can hear them. Skype calls don't work, voice memos don't work, !&&*, even shazam doesn't work. Putting on speaker, however, does.

Chosen Solution

Check the logic board between the SIM card slot and the battery connector (especially on and around the charging dock connector).

You could've broken something there.

And once I had an issue with the home button (always pressed) of an iPhone 5S, turned out to be pry damage on a tiny component between the battery connector and the metal shield right behind it.

I put it back and all was ok. Was barely able to introduce the tip of the iron in there. So look carefully and use good magnification.
