Is it possible to upgrade this MacBooks processor?

MacBook Unibody Model A1278 2.0 GHz

Hi there, I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook and it's needing the logic board replaced. (Fan connector socket broke off during keyboard replacement)

Before I do this, I was wondering if it would be possible to completely upgrade to a more modern logic board with a better processor. I also plan on upgrading the RAM.

Sounds silly but I'd like to be able to run things like CIV V and sims 4 smoothly. Am I better just upgrading my machine completely?

Is there anything I can do to upgrade this machine to modern standards?

You can drop in the 2.4 GHz logic board. Apple part#661-4819, 661-5102. around $250.

You might contact one of the rework companies and see how much they would charge to replace the CPU and fix the fan socket at the same time.
