Help with getting iPhone 4s to charge

Hello

I'm wondering if someone might be able to advise me on how to get my husband's iPhone 4s to work again, please?

The history of events is this:

-- iPhone 4s was working fine

-- iPhone 4s was dropped down the loo (oops!)

-- iPhone 4s was working ok for several months, apart from issues with the speaker not working too well

-- iPhone 4s was then left in the cupboard for nearly a year (husband bought a new phone)

I recently took the iPhone 4s out of the cupboard and placed it on charge. It looked like it was charging (it showed the battery picture) but, when I checked a couple of hours later, all I had was a black screen.

The steps I've taken to get it to work (none of which have worked):

-- I tried pressing the home and start buttons together for 30 seconds. Result? no change (black screen)

-- I tried reconnecting the iPhone 4s to iTunes. Result? no change (black screen)

-- I replaced the battery (bought one from this site). Result? no change (black screen)

-- I charged the battery for over 30 minutes and tried these steps again. Result? no change (black screen)

-- I tested the phone charger on another phone and the phone charger works perfectly, so it must be a problem with the phone.

Any ideas?

Many thanks, Emily

I tried the following:

-- using iTunes to restore the phone - iTunes did not recognise the device and the screen on the iPhone 4s was black still

-- changing the battery with the battery on another iphone 4s - and yes, the battery is working

So, I'm guessing that the problem is probably to do with the screen, the motherboard, or maybe even the charging port? As I don't have the time to attempt fixing any of these, I've handed the handset over to someone else to do it.

Many thanks for your help though.

There are several things should ensure:

1. If the new battery is charged really. Maybe you can charge that iPhone 4S for over 30 minutes, then take the battery out and try it on another iPhone 4S to see if there is the power. If it can support another iPhone 4S, it proves the battery and the charging port are working well, which means dead screen is not caused by wrong charging.

2. At that time, you should check the screen. Change a new screen or try your screen on the other working well iPhone 4S.

3. If both the charging and screen are well, i suppose the motherboard maybe get old after long time rest.

Good suggestions, Sophia. I will try them out and get back to you as soon as I can with an update on how the tests went.

Hello,

Is your iPhone working besides the black screen?

Maybe if you restore it with iTunes it might come back on, but if iTunes recognizes the iPhone then my guess is a dead screen
