Does HDD need to be WD?

Greets! If i want to replace my hard drive; i see plenty of tutorials to what to do to replace with a WD, but i have a couple of hitachi or samsung laying around, any flash firmware for those? or any other ideas?

Options

Modifying a non-WD hard drive into a Xbox 360 HDD is possible, however the relevant documentation and tools are't readily available.
