Dropped and not working/black screen

My other half had a Iphone 4s which had a cracked screen but was still working fine so we didnt do anything to get it repaired

Yesterday she had the Iphone on her lap and dropped it. Since then the screen wont switch on at all and stays black. When plugged into the charger the screen stays black but the phone vibrates every 10 seconds until you unplug it.

I've tried to research a fix to this without having to pay too much to sort it. I was thinking about buying a replacement screen etc and having ago myself but if this doesnt solve it it seems a waste of time and money.

Any help and advice would be muchly appreciated.

Hi Alex,

This is the guide you will need to replace the screen assembly.

Note that sometimes iPhone 4S screens cables may detach from their sockets on the logic board due to a drop. If you're lucky, it could've happened to you. To rule it out before proceeding to replace the screen, follow the guide till step 5 included (remove battery cover and disconnect battery connector from the board).

Skip 6 to 11, do 12 to 16: remove the metal shield, and disconnect only 2 cables: the one marked in green and the one marked in red. Then gently re-seat them; make sure they are properly connected.

Reassemble and restart your iPhone.

If the screen doesn't come on, you probably need a new screen like Con said.

If the screen comes on, you need to readjust your time and date: connect to iTunes or to Wi-Fi, wait until time and date are correct, then reboot your phone (press and hold power + home buttons for ˜12 seconds, then press once to power button to restart the phone).
