Can I change hdd 500gb to an ssd 250gb

if i buy the basic mac mini late 2014 can i change the hdd with an ssd one of 256 gb or is it like the ram that is not upgradable?i don’t want at all an hdd inside.

Yes, you could swap out the HD for a SSD (2.5" unit). You won't be able to install the Apple SSD blade later.

I think you're going down the wrong path here though.

You may want to think about getting the SSD model then adding the SATA port parts, then add either a second SSD unit, or a HD/SSHD unit.

Spinning disk drives still have there place. We're still not over the cost hump where SSD's are cheaper than HD's given the store space they offer.

If performance is your concern, I would swap out the HD for a SSHD hybrid drive. It will give you the performance and still offer the deeper storage a HD can offer for a better price point.
