This cable is used to connect the bottom antenna of the iPhone 6+ to the logic board.

The bottom antenna is the cellular antenna on the previous iPhone models and it seems for the iPhone 6/6+ as well. Meaning without this antenna or without the cable depicted, the iPhone will keep searching for a cellular signal without being able to connect to the cellular network.

The interconnect cable has the same function. It transmits the signal originally coming form the antenna from the bottom to the top of the logic board.

This is the primary antenna RF feed cable, which is for the bottom antenna. without it the iphone may still have cellular reception from the top antenna, but much slower, poorer and consumes much more power.

Tom,

The top antenna is not just for WiFi? This is what I thought...

There are 2 upper antennas, one is the top bezel, which is for cellular diversity/GPS, the other is the flex cable, which is for Wifi/Bluetooth and cellular diversity(only on some models.)

Thanks, will look this up... I'll need to dig deeper for future reference.

Are there three antennae then? Two top and one bottom, with the bottom one connected to the logic board by the interconnect cable?
