Problems with volume buttons fitting new housing

Hi, replacing the full housing on my iphone 5s, everything has been going great until putting the volume buttons back in place in the new housing. The seem to fit ok but wont 'click' and the metal buttons dont seem to be reaching the cable underneath, any ideas?

Thanks in advance :)

If you are using the buttons given to you by the housing I am confident they will NOT come with the metal spacer. This allows the button to press against the cable, here's an example:

What I like to do is clean the old button up and reuse it, but you can take the spacer off the old one and glue it to the new one.
