Why does my MacBook Pro boot to a white screen?

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro from a seller on eBay who had said that it was booting to a white screen. I assumed this was a hard drive problem and bought it. I replaced the hard drive with a different one, but still got the white screen. I put the original hard drive back in and tried doing a NVRAM reset but that didn't work. I also tried doing an Internet Recovery. I checked to see if the RAM was dislodged and it's not. I took it out and put it back in, still nothing. Tried using each of the RAM sticks individually but it still doesn't work. Also tried using the install disk but right after the apple logo and spinner it just goes to the white screen.

I have 4GB of RAM 2x2GB

Disconnect the hard drive and cable from the logic board. See if it will start from the DVD. If so, replace the HD/IR cable. Then check the hard drive with Disk Utilities on the DVD. Replace it if needed.
