Mayer knows squat.Theres absolutely no radiation from a microwave and his words are copied(plajorized )from anothr site!!!!

I don’t know the answer yet but my microwave just started doing it. I’ll post a solution soon if I find one. Replacing the control pad sounds like the best way to proceed.

My microwave is doing the same thing today… started shortly after I wiped the control pad? So far, nothing has worked….???? Have tried unplugging/plugging in. No keys work. When I plug it back in, it displays….Enjoy cooking…please….SE

The light on my microwave stays on even when I close door. It tells me to close door, when door is closed. Start button does not work when I try to heat up or cook. It works with the clock. I get error “SE” which means a key short error. It tells me to replace control panel or smart board, however, I cannot find either parts, when I call.

Does anyone knows where I can find the control panel assembly or the smart board for Kenmore model 401.80089010 ?

Some say it is a SE is a sensor error. Others, a Key short error.

The SE error code indicates that you have a stuck key on the control keypad or a failed electronic control board. A technician will need to diagnose and repair this type of failure. Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. Internal high voltage components can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. A microwave shielding test must be performed on the unit to detect any possible radiation leakage following any internal component repair. These are the reasons that I recommend having a technician service the microwave.

Can you correct if it’s a moisture issue? I have something cooking and all of a sudden the microwave (over the stove) beeped twice and showed the SE code

How do u open the door and clear it?

I had this error message after filing potatoes on stove top. Then the other day the power went out for several hours and when the power came on it reset the microwave or something as it indicated to set the clock. I did so and the microwave now is working again. Perhaps if the power can be shut off for a short period. I have no idea how this worked but my microwave did not work for several months.

"Can you correct if it’s a moisture issue?" Yes you can. Thanks Guys the ribbon thing was perhaps not secure anymore but now my microwave boils water again!

I unplugged it and plugged it back in and all went back to normal

My microwave did that but also showed SE one-two-three-four intermittently ,it was evidently a loose connection on the touchpad ribbon to the board. Remember You must push the ribbon firmly into the connector before closing the clamp.

It is necesary to disassamble the keypad. One way to fix it is placing a shim to force this metal ribbon against the metal groung cover and it will be solved permanently.

My Samsung Microwave had a SE / 5E error. All I did was open it up, disconnected all the cables tot he board, removed the front panel then I used a few earbuds to clean the board and a paper towel to clean the ribbon. Finally I left the microwave open and everything disconnected overnight. The next morning I put everything back together and all is working fine

Do you have to pull the microwave off the wall (mine is mounted above the stove) to access the board?

Hi Lebohang! did the repair you perform hold up or did you get the SE repair once again?

Did you notice that moisture caused the issue? (as said by Nana26 above)

by

Did it and worked

What should i do?

Umm microwaves don’t use radiation to cook food!! They use “microwaves” absolutely no radiation other than standard electro magnetic radiation which is emitted by every single electronic product everywhere!!

Sorry, microwaves are part of the radiation spectrum, albeit the electromagnetic radiation not the particle radiation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation

This is the third incident with my microwave doing this. It’s scary and makes me concerned about an electrical shortage. It’s 14 years old so out it’s going. Thank you all for the knowledge and suggestions. Be safe.

maybe you should look up RADIATION b4 you make yourself look stupid

RADIATION is energy that comes from a source and travels through space at the speed of light. This energy has an electric field and a magnetic field associated with it, and has wave-like properties. You could also call radiation “electromagnetic waves”.

Let's get this clear - MICROWAVE OVENS ARE DANGERIOUS FOR 2 REASONS.

They operate with high voltages and they produce microwave radiation to effect the cooking.

Replacing INTERNAL electrical parts does not require radiation tests. The radiation is contained by the metal structure, the door seal and the holy shield in the glass. Damage or improper assembly to those parts would require the radiation tests. The door seal can go bad without any disassembly or be compromised by food stuck to it, so it is important to keep it clean.

Replacing INTERNAL electrical parts DOES REQUIRE that you know how to insure that the high voltage is removed.

As with ANY electrical device, NEVER work on it with power connected.

Even devices with batteries must have the battery removed b4 opening it up.

Sometimes, troubleshooting a device requires power when open. HOWEVER, never do that with a microwave because of the radiation danger.

A microwave that is powering on but simply not cooking is either the interlock switches or switch activators. the HV diode, the capacitor or the magnetron. Magnetrons are usually not economical to replace.

Any other strange operation might be the interlock switches, the switch activators, or the control board.

The control board can be replaced or if you are knowledgeable, a part, like the relays, might be replaced for a lot less money.

Just don't buy them from an appliance parts place, as they think they are made out of gold.
