Problems initializing hard drive on PowerPC G5?

Hello, I bought a 3 TB 3.5" Toshiba Hard Drive as a secondary drive for my Mac. I installed it and the Mac sees the drive, but I can't initialize nor can I format it. I have a Duel 2Ghz PowerPC G5 running OS 10.4.11.

I didn't realize this drive is for an iMac, not a PowerPC, so that's probably the issue here.

I was told that this drive should work on all G5s, not just iMacs.

I believe the maximum hard drive on this G5 was 1 GB. See note #5 on Apple's specs: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP96
