No response, won't turn on, won't charge?

I have an iPod Classic 80GB Black model A1238. I have had this iPod 6 years and never a single problem, its been great up until yesterday, I had not used it for about 3 days. So i tried turning it on to play my favourite tunes and it would not turn on, so i thought it had no battery, i left it charging overnight still when i woke up no response, it would not turn on. I tried reseting it holding the 2 keys down for a minute still nothing! I have tried connecting to iTunes and it won't connect. so basically it does nothing.

Any help much appreciated

joel, the very first thing I would do is to replace the battery. That way you have at least a known-good starting point for further trouble shooting. Right now, it does sound like a bad battery. Of course, you do want to try a different cable, different charger and make sure that your dock connector is clean and that there are no broken, bend or corroded pins.
