I need help with the reading of dvd's on my ps2
my ps2 will read games and it will have full audio and it will also read dvd's and will have full picture but audio will cut in and out, what do i do

When it comes to DVD movies, you have to enable 5.1 audio from the DVD menu while the movie is playing. Regardless, if the audio is still cutting out, then there is obviously a general problem with the PS2 hardware or the physical connection between the PS2 and your receiver.
The only thing you can do now is swap the cable and try a different input on your receiver (you should be able to manually re-assign a different optical audio input to your PS2 video input). If it still cuts out with both of those they you have determined that your PS2 is faulty. If it works when you swap optical inputs then perhaps something is wrong with that input on your receiver. If it works with the cable replacement... well, then it was the cable!
