Is a SSD upgrade possible

Can a SSD upgrade Mcbookpro Retina 13 mid 2014 possible ?

I have spoken with Apple-Support. He said, I can not. is that real ?.

While the SSD unit is removable. Review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 SSD Replacement. The rub here is Apple is currently the only supplier of the part. They will only swap it out for a replacement unit if yours is defective (same for same). The part is a custom designed M.2 PCIe blade.

Both OWC & Transcend have made older MacBook Pro upgrades available so it's likely we'll see something coming from one or both.
