Shift key always on - keyboard replacement didn't work

I just replaced the keyboard in a 2011 MacBook Air due to the shift key always being enabled but that didn't solve the problem.

  • Shift key shows as always pressed
  • Replacing the whole keyboard with a new one didn't help
  • Same problem in single-user mode and the terminal in recovery boot
  • No visible liquid damage
  • USB keyboard works fine

It turned out to be the chip/daughterboard on the Trackpad.

Too me, this sounds like you may need to have a look under the keyboard itself. Follow this guide to do this:

The above link may work, please accept this answer if it has helped you

First line: "I just replaced the keyboard..." = the whole keyboard has been physically replaced with a new one.
