Keyboard unresponsive, trackpad and power button works.

Decided to upgrade my ancient santa rosa MacBook by buying an early 2009 bottom case along with the logic board. Also bought a new top case as the older one was worn out.

Moving everything from the old macbook to the new one was fine. As i booted the new board for the first time (Using my old top case) the keyboard was not responding, nor was it getting any power as the caps lock key was not illuminating. But I was still able to use the trackpad and power button. Unusually, I get the same results with the new top case.

Finally, I put everything back into the old macbook to rule out any possible faults in the new logic board, however I'm still getting the same results.

I'm completely baffled as to what has caused both fully working top cases to suddenly have the keyboards not respond in both MacBooks when before they worked fine.

Any help is appreciated.

For anyone with similar issues, I thought I'd post back seeing as though I've gotten it working, after much frustration, I found out that the ribbon cable going from the keyboard/power button was damaged. So I've managed to fit a new keyboard in by removing the plastic rivets and inserting a new one. Problem solved.
