Help fixing partially snapped iPhone 6?

Hello all,

I am curious to know if my iPhone is worth saving. I am very handy and deal a lot with computers due to my profession but have never repaired a phone. I enjoy learning so this should be fun for me. From what I can tell MOST essential components are relatively intact, The battery I am pretty sure is toast though. I am in no hurry to repair it considering I already purchased a new phone. This will be more of a tinkering project.

Here are my questions. (I have included photos also.. So you guys be the judge on what you think is the best route to go.)

1. Is this even salvageable?

2. What tools would I need/parts?

3. Has anyone repaired a phone this damaged? What issues could I possibly run into with this type of damage?

4. What would the estimated cost be to repair?

Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. No, I did not break my iPhone attempting the bend test.

WHOA! What was the story on how it was broken? How did you bend a phone in half and snap a logic board?

I'd be interested in the board for harvesting components.

Still have it if you want to buy it lol

Sadly, I don't see any way to save anything here of value. While the logic bd looks good from your images its most likely damaged too.

Given the event New Years can you sue the person who killed it (if you didn't do it).

Otherwise, how about getting some polyester casting resin and make a paperweight out of it. It would be a great eye opener to have on ones desk!

WOW

How on earth did you manage that? I've fixed a 5s which was ran over by a bus but the logic board still turned on and surprisingly everything worked. This really isn't worth repairing, I don't even know if anything can be salvaged.

It might be worth a shot going into the Apple store and asking if the replace it through warranty.... lol

Haha, long story on how it happened. All I will say is new years..

I was doing some research and they do make back plates available for sale. So I am thinking of tearing it completely down and trying to salvage what I can. I am not sure how to test certain parts to see if they still function though..

I will keep posting as I go to keep everyone updated. I absolutely hate throwing away technology so I can bring myself to trash it.

The logic board looks like it is snapped in half so wha are you planning on putting in the new rear housing lol?

the rear camera looks ok, the volume/lock flex etc looks like it will be okay, vibrate motor will be okay, wifi will be okay, not sure on front camera, depends if you ripped the cable or if it's still attached under the EMI shield. Finger print sensor is gone forever, most of the brackets look reusable. all of this is probably $30 to buy, it's the logic board and LCD which cost big money

Like I said, I am new to this. So.. With all that being said do you think it's worth trying to fix? I know its pretty far gone but have you ever repaired anything this damaged?

by

NO, absolutely not even worth attempting. It's now Junk.

:/ lame... So what would you suggest I do with it? Any parts I could possibly sell?

by

I would sell it whole on eBay, the individual parts are not worth much anyway, and you have no way of testing it.
