Martin, this is usually caused by a bad DLP switch. Depending on your model, it could be the DLP board or the IC itself that can be replaced. If you give us your model number, we might be able to help you out further, but yes it can be fixed.

A replacement panel, if it can even be found, will cost more than a new TV.
